Description

Log Cave™ – the Outdoor Storage Tent for Logs & Firewood

Welcome to the Log Cave™ log store, an outdoor storage tent for firewood and logs. With the current cost of living crisis and the huge increases in energy costs, many people are switching to wood fires and log burners. But where can you store a supply of logs? A wooden log store or shed is expensive, typically costing between £350 to £500. The TidyTent “Log Cave™”  solves the problem at a fraction of the cost!

The TidyTent “Log Cave™” includes a second skin, a replaceable “roof hood”. This improves not only the waterproofness of the product but also its longevity. Over time outdoor fabrics fade and degrade due to the sun’s damaging UV rays. With this design, you can simply purchase a replacement roof hood rather than a whole new product!

The TidyTent Log Cave, whether the standard or the extra strong TRIO version, incorporates a completely sealed, sewn-in groundsheet made from a tough PE tarpaulin-type material. This means that although you can use a log rack inside, it’s not actually necessary. If you wish, you can stack your logs directly onto the groundsheet. Providing your log tent, and in particular, the roof hood are correctly assembled and installed, you will find it adequately waterproof for storing logs.

“Yes, but is it really waterproof?” we hear you ask. Well, providing it’s correctly installed, yes it really is! Check out the following video, where we give it a thorough testing.

LogCave™ Log Store – the outdoor log storage tent

This innovative new log tent is made from a thick, hard-wearing, and durable PE (polyethylene) material. This is the same type of fabric that many tarpaulins are made of.

There are various fixing points around the outer edge so that you can screw your log tent to a wall or fence, keeping it secure in the wind. There are also fixing points around the edge of the sewn-in groundsheet base so you can secure it freestanding. Plastic wall plugs, screws, nylon guy lines, and steel pegs are all included.

The door panel has 3 zips: one from apex to bottom left corner, one from apex to bottom right corner, and a third zip that seals the door horizontally across the bottom. This door shape and zip configuration make zipping and unzipping easier without snagging. The zips are covered by a rain flap. The door can be partially unzipped and flipped over the roof or completely detached for quick and easy access.

TidyTent Log Cave™ – the ideal log store

The LogCave™ log store has a sewn-in PE groundsheet and raised door sills to stop dampness and water ingress.  In the roof panel, there are two “velcro”-sealed adjustable ventilation flaps to maintain airflow and reduce condensation and there is also a “velcro”-sealed access panel in the rear panel. But note: it is important to attach the roof hood (fly sheet) to prevent water ingress. The curved shape of the log tent means that snow and rain simply slide off. However, if you live in a region that has a lot of snow, then you may be interested to know that we also sell a premium extra strong triple arch version of the product known as the TRIO, which has been tested to take the equivalent of up to 64kg of freshly fallen snow. Click here for more information.

So, how many logs can you fit inside your TidyTent Log Cave? Well, we found, depending on the size of your logs, somewhere between two and three “dumpy bags” or “bulk bags” as they’re sometimes known – that’s between 1.5 – 2 cubic meters! Commercially available pre-cut logs seem to be generally available between 18 cm and 23 cm in length. Given that the sewn-in groundsheet of our log store is about 75 cm wide, you can easily create a double or even a triple row of stacked logs.

Product Maintenance and Lifespan

Over time, it is possible that the fabric of your log tent will fade in the sunlight. Please note: the Log Cave™ log storage tent is supplied with a replaceable roof hood. This improves the waterproofness and UV protection of the product. If after time you notice that the fabric is degrading you can simply purchase a replacement roof hood rather than a whole new cover! Thus the roof hood extends the longevity of the product.

You should maintain the product by regularly spraying or coating the fabric with a proprietary UV protection and waterproofing tent spray such as Nikwax Tent & Gear Solarproof/WaterprooferClick here for more details.

The  Log Cave™ is protected by European Community design registration and international patents.

Log Cave™ is Modular!

If you find that the Log Cave isn’t big enough for your needs, you can extend the size by purchasing and attaching a TidyTent Xtra. As explained, the door panel can be completely detached if you wish. The door panel is attached not with a single zip but with three separate zips. The zips are configured each the opposite way to the other. One zip has the slider attached to the door panel; the other has the zip slider attached to the body of the tent itself.

This enables the modular version of the product, known as the Tidy Tent Xtra, to zip one body to another thus extending the size of your log tent. Simply detach the front door panel of one unit and the rear door panel of your TidyTent Xtra, then zip the two tents together. You can zip two, three or more together to extend the size to suit your needs. In this way, you can consider this innovative storage solution as a Mini Modular Shed System.
