Coconut Coir, Organic growing medium is a 100% natural and renewable soil amendment. Developed to help your plants develop stronger root systems and retain nutrients longer. Coconut Coir expands 5 to 7 times in volume when soaked in water so please keep this mind when you are hydrating it.

The coir has very good water storage properties. It loosens the soil, thereby allowing good root aeration, which improves nutrient absorption. This leads to a stronger shoot and root formation.

Coconut coir is also mould-inhibiting and is therefore suitable for cultivation of exotic plants, without the addition of further substances. It is ideally suited for herbs, vegetables, domestic and exotic plants. Perfectly suitable for cultivation, as no mould is formed and the moisture is released very evenly to the seed.

About Coir:

Coconut Coir (from Malayalam kayar, cord) is the coarse fibres extracted from the fibrous outer shell of a coconut. Coco Coir is  totally organic. It has spongy characteristics, possessing excellent air space and drainage with a water holding capacity of > 70%.

How to Use Coconut Coir Organic growing medium:

Your coconut coir comes as a compressed brick, block or bale, and should be soaked in water for at least 15 minutes before using.

Coir can expand 5 to 7 times in volume. Make sure you have a large enough container when soaking your coir. The actual volume that a brick of coir will expand too depends on the amount of water used.

Coir can account for up to 40% of a potting mix, so add it to your soil or as an ingredient of your potting mixes.

Always keep the coir that you don’t use. Coir is a material that will keep its properties and can be stored/covered for several years.
